It’s one of the most common questions I get in the studio: “Vicky, what actually is a vajacial?” 🦉

The name throws people off, but the idea is simple — it’s a facial for your bikini area. Same philosophy as the facial you’d get for the skin on your face, adapted for skin that deals with waxing, shaving, sweat, and tight clothing.

What Exactly Is a Vajacial?

A vajacial is a treatment for the external skin of the bikini area — the outer skin only. It typically includes a gentle cleanse, light exfoliation, extraction of trapped or ingrown hairs, a calming mask, and a soothing serum to finish.

It isn’t an internal treatment, and it isn’t a wax. Many clients pair the two, but a vajacial is about the condition of the skin rather than hair removal.

What It Can Help With

Most of the women who book one with me are dealing with at least one of these:

Ingrown hairs that keep coming back in the same spots. Small bumps or congestion after waxing or shaving. Dryness, irritation, or dullness. Darkening in areas where there’s been a lot of friction over the years.

Skin is skin — the area just doesn’t get the same care and attention the rest of it does. A vajacial gives it that attention.

What Happens During Your Appointment

You’ll be draped and comfortable throughout, just like a wax. I cleanse the area, apply a gentle exfoliant to loosen dead skin, and then carefully release any ingrown hairs sitting under the surface. From there it’s a soothing mask and a finishing serum to calm everything down.

It’s a relaxing appointment. Most clients are surprised by how gentle it feels compared to what they imagined.

Who It’s For

A vajacial is a good fit if you’re prone to ingrown hairs, if you’ve noticed bumps or discoloration you’d like to soften, or if you’re simply curious and want to treat the area a little better.

It’s also a lovely option before a vacation or a special occasion — or as a first step if you’re newer to waxing and your skin is still adjusting to the routine.

How Often Should You Get One?

Many clients book a vajacial alongside their regular wax every four to six weeks. If you struggle with persistent ingrown hairs, a short series of appointments closer together tends to make more of a difference than a single visit.

Like most skincare, it works best with consistency. One appointment feels great; a routine is what actually changes the condition of your skin.

Simple Aftercare

Skip hot tubs, pools, saunas, and heavy sweating for about 48 hours, and keep the area out of direct sun. After a couple of days, gentle exfoliation two to three times a week plus a light moisturizer will help maintain the results between visits.
